“You booze, you lose” could very well be the slogan of an anti-drunk driving initiative recently launched by Bangkok police. On the Facebook page, the local police have uploaded photos of drunk drivers holding up their tickets and identity cards for all to see.
The page’s 22,500 fans got to see 71 pictures uploaded to shame drivers caught driving under the influence of alcohol. In Thailand, the blood alcohol content limit is 0.5 grams per liter. Thailand is the largest consumer market for alcohol in Asia.
According to the World Health Organization, 26,000 people die annually in car crashes in Thailand — in more than 40% of cases, the crashes are due to drunk driving.
Bangkok police shared clearly identifiable photos of drunk drivers on their Facebook page. FRANCE 24 blurred the photos.
