Couple arrested said to have contacted Wonder’s representatives claiming to have embarrassing information about him
Legendary musician: Stevie was identified in court by his real name Steveland Morris
A couple have been charged with trying to blackmail music legend Stevie Wonder.
Alpha Walker – who claims to be Stevie’s nephew – and his girlfriend Tamara Diaz are accused of trying to sell “embarrassing information” about the star, who was identified in court by his birth name Steveland Morris.
Jane Robison of the Los Angeles district attorney’s office, said: “Walker contacted Wonder’s representatives claiming to have embarrassing information about him. Detectives organised a sting and the pair were arrested.”
Police have not released any further details about their investigation.

Walker was on probation at the time of his arrest after he was given a suspended three-year sentence for theft last May. Diaz had been arrested while on probation for marijuana possession.
The pair, who have been in custody since May 2, deny extortion. They will appear in court on Wednesday.
