Stolen iPhone leads police to teen gang after Cairns bag snatch -Australia calling !

AN iPhone app led police to three teen muggers after they were able to track a woman’s phone in her stolen handbag.

A police spokeswoman said a 27-year-old woman was walking along Spence Street in Cairns  just after midnight when three youths, aged 13, 14 and 15 years, allegedly rode up on pushbikes and stole her handbag.

The woman and her 28-year-old female friend gave chase but lost sight of the teens.

They then went to the Cairns Police Station where they informed officers that her iPhone had a tracking application.

Police used the technology to track the youths to a Cairns address a short time later.

The three pushbikes were also stolen so possibly four crimes may now be solved thanks to the free Find My iPhone app.

The teenagers will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act in relation to stealing and receiving offences
