LOS ANGELES, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) — Retailer giant Wal-Mart is recalling about 2.2 million heaters due to fire and burn hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on Thursday.
“Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed,” the CPSC said. “It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product
The 150 watt heaters involved in the recall were Flow Pro, Airtech, Aloha Breeze and Comfort Essentials sold at Wal-Mart stores across the United States from December 2001 through October 2008 for about 18 dollars, the CPSC said.
The products were recalled because they could overheat and cause smoking, burning, melting and fire, the CPSC said in a statement.
Wal-Mart has received 21 reports of incidents, which included 11 reports of property damage beyond the heater, the statement said.
Injuries were reported in four incidents, three of which required medical attention for minor burns and smoke inhalation, said the statement
